Update from SF

Monday, January 31st, 2011

Ma Sweet is in the San Francisco surprising Uncle Paul for his birfday. Guess where she spent the morning?

North Beach! I told her to say hi to my friends Sidney, Rio, and Antonio. She and Aunt Daphne sent me internet phone photos.

Here are some cappuccinis.

Plants

Saturday, January 29th, 2011

The sad news is that when I went to San Francisco this summer all of my apartment plants died probably from feelings of abandonment/dehydration so this morning I decided to adopt new plants and bring plant expert Kaitlin because finding new plants is like finding new wharton husbands: easy? We spent a lot of time talking about soil and pot dimensions and light and watering schedules and then I adopted three new plants and officially kicked nesting mode into high gear whoops.

In other news: My Chicago Parking paper was accepted into the PennDesign City Planning Journal for Spring 2011. I’magonnabefamous.

The downside of being besties with JSK is that it is time consuming and after getting a total of 14 hours of sleep over the past three days at TRB I will not only get 4 hours of sleep and that’s going to be the dumbest. Juggling grad school and bestfriendships is hard. Maybe she will cancel my classes tomorrow because it snowed an inch. The end.

DC>PHI

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

I spent the entire bus ride from DC to Philly listening to Bonnie Raitt’s “You Got It” and daydreaming about joint DOT meetings with JSK and USDOT while we wear matching suits and black wraps and make snarky but harmless jokes about unpainted bike lanes on two-way downtown arterials.

Here’s a photo of the UPenn Transportation Systems Engineering Alumni Club (TSEAC), also known as the Vukan Vuchic Fan Club.

Mission Meet JSK

Saturday, January 22nd, 2011

This is not a joke. My friend Andy walked up to me last night and said, I have a plan. And I said A plan for what? And he said, I know how we’re going to meet JSK.

I can’t share many details mostly because Andy told me the plan after I had drunked three beers and I might have missed most of it because I kept clapping and shouting but I do remember that it was genius and fool-proof and that Mission Meet JSK is going down in Washington DC on Tuesday, Jan 25th from 8am-12pm. I know right? Who’s nervous? Not this one, mama got her fancy slacks hemmed and her bizzy cards printed. Two key ingredients to winning JSK’s heart.
